The plan is to purchase The Harewood and run it as a community hub to create a viable and financially self-sufficient community asset that can not only support itself but support other community ventures as well.
To set this up will not be cheap but if we can show sufficient financial commitment and interest from our community, we are hoping to access significant external grants (and possibly loans) to cover the majority of the outlay. As well as raising the capital to purchase the Harewood building, brewery and associated business, we also need to raise funds to cover the legal, professional and commercial fees that this sort of transaction involves.
Of course, team driving this project are all volunteers who take no financial reward. In fact, we have already donated and pledged significant sums to the project. Now we ask for your help too…
By pledging to buy shares you are giving your intention to buy community shares in Broadbottom Community Pub Limited, the Community Benefit Society (Company) that has been set up to buy and run the Harewood Community Hub. Investment in Community Shares is how we will raise the capital to purchase the business. Investment can also offer you significant tax-breaks.
As well as raising money through the Community Share Offer to buy the The Harewood property and business, there are many other costs including professional fees, printing, marketing memberships, insurance and all the costs faced by any business. We rely on your generous donations to cover these costs while we work to raise the capital to buy the pub.
